We aren’t that anal here! Just use your normal manners. Don’t be rude….No rules….just realize you’re in someone else’s house.

I would think it would be similar to elsewhere. Use your knife and fork correctly, don’t chew with your mouth open, don’t burp at the table, don’t bring up politics or religion unless asked, etc. We’re all pretty informal and probably won’t get upset if you put your elbows on the table. Just follow everyone else’s lead and you’ll be fine.

This is really funny. Do Americans really think we’re a bunch of clods? Or that we have strange customs? Ok, well, my mother always made gelatin with fruit that was served with the main meal. My husband thinks that’s weird.
Be polite, friendly and helpful and don’t hog the stuffing. You’ll do fine. Just remember to close the igloo door behind you when you come in.

When you enter a person’s home in Canada, it’s customary to take off your shoes just inside the door. As far as dining manners, though, they are very similar to those used in the States. A “serviette” is the same thing that we call a “napkin”.
