la_bamba55 asked:

This is for a ring dance. I have dark brown hair and brown eyes. My skin tone is tan. The dress is like an apple red. I would appreciate some ideas to help me choose the perfect makeup. Thanks!

  3. I think you should go with a smoky eye, but try blending something brown or gray. Also, go with a bright right lipstick or gloss to match your dress. Maybe a dusty, darker pinkish blush.

  5. something light, red is such a bold color. since you have brown hair i wouldn’t use too dark of eye shadow, something mixed with a slight bit of red, i dunno about the black eyelinerthat seems a little too dramati for a ring dance.

  6. I would wear smoky eyeshadow with grey and maybe a plum mixed with it (but very subtly plum, just so the smokey colour is warm and not all grey)
I would apply some nice black eyeliner and then get a tiny red gem and stick it at the end of the eyeliner (you should be able to get body gems on a strip)
I do this quite a lot with clear crystal type gems and always get compliments on it.
It’s just something a little different that can be used in any colour with out looking OTT or odd!

  8. you can do this:

    option 1- pinup look:
slightly bronze your cheeks to add a bit of shimmer
swipe an invisible shimmer color to your eyes
line them with black liquid eyeliner
    add falsies
match your lips to the color of your dress in a matte red tone

    option 2 - simple:
    bronze/peach blush on your cheeks
    white or nude shimmer shadow
black pencil liner on the top lash line
    curl your lashes
    add mascara
use a simpler coral to pink tone lip gloss

    option 3 - sexy:
try using a bold eyeshadow look using bronzes, golds and browns
    use subtle bronzer
line upper lashes with pencil, curl lashes and add mascara
    use a pink gloss

    option 4 - smokey:
do a smokey eye look with blacks, greys, silvers (line upper lash line with black liquid liner and the lower water lashline with black pencil, also extend the main eyeshadow color to the lower lash line.)
use a subtle blush or shimmer for the cheeks
use a pale pink lip gloss

  13. Nude, black or red tone.

If you are really good with makeup, do a multiple shade like this but with red tones:

  15. red lipstick with a red dress is too much. it would look tacky. wear a natural lip color or no lip color at all. (chapstick with clear gloss works perfectly) as for your eyes, natural shades as well or silver or gold depending on your jewelry, with black eyeliner and/or shadow. Sorry if that doesnt sound right…..the vision in my head looks hot….wish I could use my make artist skills and do it for ya!!! lol jk

  16. Since red is not conservative, I would venture that you are neither. In that case, I oild go with smokey eyes (Charcoal pencil, smudged out), with black mascara. I would do some gold/tan tones on the eye lids, and for effect use some vaseline to give them gloss. High-gloss, perfect red lips, outlined in a darker red.

  22. If your skin is tan, then just wear a bronzer or powder for your face. Go with dark/light gray eyeshadow for a smokey eye look and clear gloss. There’s not really a lip color that looks REA: great with red, and if your going big on the eyes, go light on the lips. Should look great! Just try some things with the colors before and see what looks good! Good luck!

  23. i always go for nuetral tones with a sparkle but in this case maybe a lite pink that matches your skin tone but a little liter. or maybe even a red if you want to go all out!

    Comment by Greta — October 11, 2008 @ 2:10 am

  24. You should wear black liquid eye liner above your eye lids, that will match perfectly with an apple red dress. Try very light neutral foundation with maybe a little blush. For lipstick, I would say wear a nude color or even red to match your dress.

  25. Whatever you wear is fine with me! You’re so gorgeous, ANYTHING will look great!

  26. You should try the Almay color line designed for brown eyes. I use it with a little bit of mascara and it just makes your eyes pop! Add a little bit of your favorite lipstick and you’re golden… Less is more!

  30. That depends entirely on your “season” as well as the “season” of the dress.

By “season”, I mean are you a warm toned person or a cool toned person, also for the dress. Is it a blue-Red or a yellow-Red.

Do you want to be Pretty, Beautiful or Radiant?

Get the right advice, check with people who can help you the best, like your local cosmetician, color means a lot.

  31. Well there are few different things you can do but stay away from being matchy instead opt for coordinating colors and you definitely want to boost your own eye color make them pop.Make sure you blend the colors well. If you want to try smoky eyes keep it away from the crease of your eyelid for that I suggest a smoky green or dusky mauve. If you want to play up your lips play down your eyes and vice versa.Try highlighting your brow add a touch of eyeliner and mascara and a dab of color on your cheeks and pump up your pout with a deep red.Red can be an intimidating color but the trick is to find your right shade if you would like your teeth to look whiter use a blue based red.And since your hair is brown and so are oyur eyes depending on your skin tone I suggest a deep shimmery ruby.Put a little highlighter on the inside corners of your eyes. If you are planning on using bronzer not too much a little goes a long way.Remember if you use colored mascara use it only on your top lashes. I hope this helps even a little and have fun.

  32. Use Maybelline red lipstick with a dash of pink eye coloring over the eyelids, also red nail polish for the fingers and toes. Use a dash of glitter on the hair with Tabu cologne and give me a call!

    Comment by " Venom !! " — October 30, 2008 @ 9:49 pm

  33. Please no red lipstick. You will look trashy! You have plenty of coloring in your hair and skin to pull off this dress beautifully. Do a smoldering/smoky eye with dark browns & greys (black will be too harsh) with neutral, glossy lips. A subtle rosy glow on the cheeks will be the perfect finishing touch to play on the tone of the dress. When a dress is a strong color like red, you don’t want your face competing with it. Keep it soft but glamorous. If you want more drama, do a fabulous up-do in your hair. If you are more naturistic, leave it down.

But in any case, I really hope you don’t wear red lipstick.

  34. like gold or silver

    Comment by eshy2hot4demhaters — November 4, 2008 @ 10:49 am

  35. You should put on some foundation that gives you matte look and you should wear some sheer make-up, like on your tearducts you should put white eyeshadow on it to highlight your eyes and another way to highlight your eyes is to put some white eyeshadow right under your brow or on your brow line. Make sure that you rub it in a little bit to make it look natural and not not all clashy. Use some pinkish/reddish blush applied on your jawline(tip: don’t pick out a too light one, one that will compliment your skin tone) And for the lips… Apply some red lipstick or some lip gloss that has a red tone to it.
    Hope that helps you!!

  36. What color is your skin? It you are light skinned medium darkish eye with green or brown. If you have dark skin then blue, olive, coppery or gold eye shadow and pinky red lips. Red lips but you do not have to exactly match the dress. I really despise it when people wear red and then make pale makeup because they get completely washed away with the dominance of the color.

  39. I would go with something light. You don’t want to overdo it. Keep it natural. Light tones. Don’t overdo it on the lipgloss either. Just go for something glossy, that’s it. Keep it neutral!

    Do not wear pink lipstick.

Wear a double coat of mascara. Only emphasize the lips or the eyes. Don’t use bold colors for both.
